Alfie Scholar Impact

AS GLOBAL CITIZENS, ALFIE SCHOLARS BRING RICH, DIVERSE PERSPECTIVES TO THE CAMPUS COMMUNITY.

Over half of our scholars have come from a variety of countries of origin outside the U.S., including Belarus, Bosnia, Cambodia, Chile, China, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Dominican Republic, India, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Israel, Jordan, Kenya, Mexico, Nepal, the Philippines, Russia, Somalia, South Korea, Sudan, Tanzania, The Gambia, and Vietnam. Combined, our scholars speak 38 different languages, in addition to English. 14 of our scholars are international students.

86% of Alfie Scholars are first-generation college students, 44% of the scholars are first-generation immigrants, 18% were international students when they started the program (some now have a change of status), and 24% are parents. Bringing these diverse lived experiences and perspectives enriches the campus culture, both in and out of the classrooms.
