Congratulations to the recent inductees into the Gamma Mu Seattle University chapter of Tau Sigma, a national honor society that recognizes and promotes academic excellence and leadership in  transfer students. Students who earn a 3.5 GPA or higher in their first quarter after transferring are invited to join Tau Sigma. On February 27, 2019, a total of 77 students were welcomed into the Gamma Mu chapter. Among those inducted were seven of the ten 2018 Alfie Scholars cohort, Chhavi Mehra (Communications) , Michel Mugisha (Electrical Engineering), Megan Nguyen (Computer Science), Cesar Rios III (Nursing), Stephanie Sanchez (Nursing), Chloe Zabrek (Business Administration), and Yue Zhang (Business Administration and Analytics). Also two Alfie Scholars, Tau Sigma Director of Communications Tiffany Carpenter (International Relations) and Tau Sigma Vice President and Director of Finances Mariajesus Elgueta (Nursing) were also recognized for their leadership within the chapter.

Finally, the Alfie Scholar Program was recognized for its support of transfer students. Carol Cochran, Alfie Scholars Director, and Paula Lustbader, Alfie Scholars Founder and Executive Director, received honorary memberships to the society.
